Course Description
Master the Art of Saw Sharpening – Hands-On Workshop!
Are your saws dull and slow? Don’t replace them—sharpen them! Join our Saw Sharpening Fundamentals workshop and gain the skills to restore your saws to peak performance.
In this five-hour, hands-on class, you’ll learn:
✅ How to use saw vises, filing jigs, and guides for precision sharpening.
✅ The right files and saw sets for different tooth sizes (PPI/TPI).
✅ Proper tooth geometry for crosscut and rip-cut saws—including rake and fleam angles.
✅ Jointing, sharpening, and setting a saw to ensure smooth, accurate cuts.
✅ How to test saw tracking and correct issues with stoning.
This class is tailored for English/American hand saws, back saws, and frame saws (Japanese saws omitted). You’ll work with real tools under expert guidance and leave with the confidence to maintain and sharpen your own saws.

Introduction and Tools: Identify and explain the use of essential saw sharpening tools.
Saw Tooth Geometry and Jointing: Understand saw tooth geometry and perform saw jointing.
Sharpening Rip-Cut Saws: Sharpen a rip-cut saw to proper specifications.

Sharpening Crosscut Saws: Sharpen a crosscut saw to proper specifications.
Setting Saw Teeth: Set saw teeth using various methods
Testing and Correcting Saw Performance: Test saw tracking and making necessary corrections
Practical Application and Q&A: Apply learned skills and clarify any remaining questions
