About Our Woodworking Courses

Plane Wellness is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We offer free woodworking courses to individuals with a mental health diagnosis or physical disability, including veterans with a disability rating.

Our mission is to improve mental wellness through woodworking while encouraging an inclusive community.

Learn: We want you to learn woodworking and succeed in the craft.
Heal: We want you to heal from your traumas and experience peace.
Live: We want you to live life to the fullest and thrive in the community.

How we help people learn woodworking:

Our mission is simple, we provide free woodworking courses to individuals 18+ years old with a mental health diagnosis or physical disability, including disabled veterans.

Hobbies have been shown to improve mental wellness and if you know woodworking, you know that it is complex and not always easy to learn by just watching YouTube. Especially when someone has a diagnosis or disability. We want to break that barrier and help more individuals learn woodworking and thus improve their mental wellness.

Our plan for in person woodworking courses:

The next big step for Plane Wellness is to acquire land and build a facility where we can host students for woodworking retreats. We want to give them a chance to take a break from their normal day to day and spend time with others, woodworking, learning, and improving their mental wellness in a therapeutic, in-nature, environment. This will not only help them discover and enjoy woodworking but it will also help them “break the ice”  and meet friends with similar interests.
