Course Description
The card scraper can be one of the most valuable tools in the shop, but it can also be one of the most frustrating tools in the shop. In this class, we are going to cover the theory and look at the scraper under a microscope to better understand what is going on. Then we will work on sharpening and the use of the card scraper. Next, we will look at curved card scrapers and how to sharpen them. And last, how you can make your own specialty card scrapers for any use.
Tools/Materials Needed
Tools:
Rectangular card scraper
Curved card scraper (Optional)
Burnisher (Carbide preferred)
Mill file or fine flat-faced file
Vise
