Krenov Style Smoothing Plane Made by Ashley Pieper

Course Description

Join us and learn the steps to make your own wooden body smoothing plane in the Krenov style starting with a blank. Divided into two sessions to allow for glue dry time.

Building your own plane will give an understanding of the parts and their relationship to each other. A wooden body plane can be made to fit the hand and offers a different kind of relationship to your woodworking. We will also go over laying out the bed angle, creating the mouth for the blade, shaping the body and making a wedge. Having comfort with making a square blank and experience with woodworking fundamentals is needed for the best experience in this class.

Please Note: This is an intermediate class and not for beginners. You need to know how to use a chisel, plane, and saw. We will not be covering how to use these tools or how to sharpen them.
