Combination Planes 101

Course Description

This class will cover setting up, using, sharpening, and more about combination planes. Whether you have a Stanley 55, 45, 50, or new Veritas, we will cover it all. We will be demonstrating cutting groves. beads, dados, hollows, and rounds, as well as some molding shapes. We will cover sharpening each of the shape types and what to look for in each of them.

Tools/Materials Needed

Tools needed
combination plane of your choice
sharpening stones
slip stones or wace sharpener (optional)
dowels or deep wratchet sockets (optional)
Sandpaper 400-1000 grit (optional)
double-sided carpet tape (optional) 
 
Supplies needed
Scrap straight-grained wood to work on.
Pieces should be longer than 18″ and large enough to clamp in the vice.
