Course Description

In this class, we will cover the basics of dimensioning lumber by hand. How do you take a rough-sawn board and bring it to final dimensions? This is a basic skill that is used in almost any project. We will cover scrubbing and creating a flat surface, jointing a tried edge, planing to thickness, as well as sawing to dimension. 

Tools/Materials Needed*

Tools*:
Scrub Plane
Jack Plane
Smoothing Plane (Optional) 
Winding Sticks
Square
Marking Guage
Marking Knife 

Pannel Saw – Ripping Teeth (optional) 
Crosscut Back Saw (optional)
Shooting board and plane (optional)

Materials:
Cupped Board 4/4 (1″ thick) X at least 4 inches wide X 2 foot long
Twisted Board 4/4 (1″ thick) X at least 4 inches wide X 2 foot long
