In this technique focused class, we will cover the steps of shaping a leg from template, material selection, layout and the work to finished. We will focus on the cabriole form to learn the principles. The principles learned can be applied to unleashing your creativity and really designing a leg that fits your style! Below are some examples of how a shaped leg can really influence the overall view of your project!

Tools Needed
-Clamp that can hold the leg, pipe clamp works best -Pencil -Small combo square or 6″ rule -Spokeshave -Rasp (a Shinto is an inexpensive option) -File -Card scraper -Sand paper -Chisel -Band saw or Bow saw (coping saw as last resort) -Dovetail saw (optional) -Paper and tape for sketching leg shape -Blue/Green Painters tape or Masking tape with good hold
Lumber need w/ dimensions: -1/8″ ply or mdf for template (If you do not have a way to cut the ply or mdf you can use paper for the template) -2.5″ x 2.5″ x 18″ wood blank, poplar or cherry recommended
