Course Description

In this technique focused class, we will cover the steps of shaping a leg from template, material selection, layout and the work to finished. We will focus on the cabriole form to learn the principles.

Tools Needed

-Clamp that can hold the leg, pipe clamp works best
-Pencil
-Small combo square or 6″ rule
-Spokeshave
-Rasp (a Shinto is an inexpensive option)
-File
-Card scraper
-Sand paper
-Chisel
-Band saw or a Gouge if a band saw is not available
-Dovetail saw (optional)
-Paper and tape for sketching leg shape

Lumber need w/ dimensions:
-1/8″ ply or mdf for template (If you do not have a way to cut the ply or mdf you can use paper for the template) 
-2.5″ x 2.5″ x 18″ wood blank, poplar or cherry recommended
